Communications Systems Engineer: Mid-Level Position

Work for a dynamic and growing company developing advanced technologies for customers with challenging radio frequency and networking needs. Our ideas and products will revolutionize the military and commercial use of spectrum.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Perform as a communication system engineer in the Simulation, Modeling and Analysis Team developing the next generation of both commercial and military wireless networking: an advanced communication system built upon innovative spectrum sharing methodologies capable of transparently underlying a wide variety of wireless technologies. Participate in performance evaluations of these systems: requirements, high and low-level system modeling, MATLAB simulations, functional descriptions, and testing.

Responsibilities

  • Perform as a team member to provide systems engineering for implementation of dynamic spectrum access (DSA) technology in future and existing wireless communications systems
  • Perform day-to-day systems engineering tasks involving system design and analysis, proof-of-concept simulations and evaluation, trade-off studies, and development of systems engineering documentation
  • Provide technical analysis to support hardware and software development and implementation.
  • Apply knowledge and experience in communications systems to develop DSA-based solutions.

Experience Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in wireless systems engineering in all phases of the system life cycle development.
  • 2+ years of experience with physical, link, and network level protocol design and analysis
  • Experience with wireless waveforms, preferably DoD waveforms, including solid knowledge of underlying PHY and MAC layers.
  • Experience with wireless, mobility solutions, and networks, including WLAN, WiMAX, or 2.5/3/4G Networks.
  • Knowledge of multi-frequency network solutions for mobile networks
  • Experience with RF modeling and simulations, including modeling of propagation channel, stressed RF environments, and non-linear channel impairments
  • Knowledge of background RF noise statistics and characteristics
  • Knowledge of advanced weak signal detection algorithms and false alarm minimization strategies
  • Experience with real-time algorithm implementation
  • Advanced Matlab programming, C/C++ programming

Education and Other Qualifications

  • BSEE or equivalent experience required, MS preferred
  • US Citizenship. Exceptional candidates with green card may be considered.
