Thomas Stroup – Chief Executive Officer
Tom has more than 25 years of experience in the telecommunications and technology industries. He has built and run several companies including serving as co-founder and CEO of CSM Wireless, a cellular service provider; co-founder of SquareLoop, a location-based services provider for cellular networks; president and CEO of P-Com Network Services, an international telecommunications services provider; and founder, president, and CEO of Columbia Spectrum Management, a wireless telecommunications consulting and negotiating firm serving the cellular industry. He also served as president of the Personal Communications Industry Association (PCIA). Tom earned a J.D. from Georgetown University, where he served as Editor of the Georgetown Law Journal, and a B.S. in Public Administration, summa cum laude, from University of North Dakota.
Mark A. McHenry – President, CTO and Founder
Mark has more than 25 years of experience in communications system design and is considered a leading authority in cognitive radio technology and RF spectrum issues. Mark was a co-founder and CTO of San Diego Research Center, Inc., a wireless research and development company that was sold to Argon ST. Prior to that, he was a program manager at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). He also has worked at SRI International, Northrop Advanced Systems, McDonnell Douglas Astronautics, Hughes Aircraft and Ford Aerospace. In 2006, he was appointed by the Secretary of Commerce to serve on the Department of Commerce Spectrum Management Advisory Committee (CSMAC). He was named the 2006 Engineer of the Year by the D.C. Area Council of Engineering and Architectural Studies. In 1997, Mark received the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) Award for Outstanding Achievement, and in 2000 he received the OSD Award for Exceptional Public Service. Mark earned a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University, an M.S.E.E. from University of Colorado, and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from California Institute of Technology.
Edward Morgan – Vice President of Engineering
Ed has more than 25 years of experience in the software, semiconductor and telecommunications industries. He joined SSC after nine years at Texas Instruments (TI), where he most recently served as the general manager of TI’s Software Development Organization. Prior to that role, he was executive director of the group’s Research and Development division. Ed joined TI when the company acquired Telogy Networks, where he was executive director in charge of voice networking software. He joined Telogy after 13 years at Bell Laboratories and, later, AT&T, where he was responsible for all computer products sold by AT&T to the government and financial service industries. Ed earned an M.B.A. from Purdue University, and an M.S. and B.S. in Electrical Engineering, each with highest honors, from Drexel University.
Theresa Parko McHenry – Executive Vice President and Human Resources
Theresa has over 25 years experience working on various RF communications hardware and systems including satellite communication antennas, anechoic chamber measurements, outdoor test ranges, systems architecture design, performing RF analyses, and managing teams of engineers. Prior to shifting her career interests from a technical to business focus, she was a senior research engineer at SRI International performing systems architecture requirements definition, design and analyses for military programs as well as various RF and antenna tests and measurements. She started her career at TRW (now Northrop Grumman) testing various communication satellite antennas. Theresa earned an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Santa Clara University and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Colorado.
Sal D’Itri – Director of Sales and Marketing
Sal has nearly 20 years of experience in the mobile and network communications industries. Prior to joining Shared Spectrum Company, Sal worked at Wireless Matrix Corporation, SAVVIS Communications, Cable & Wireless, and ORBCOMM where he served in various sales, strategic marketing, product management and business development roles. Sal earned an M.A. in Telecommunications from George Mason University and a B.S. in Computer Science and Accounting from Robert Morris College.
Dan Simmon – Controller
Dan is a licensed CPA with 20 years of experience in finance and accounting, including over five years of Government Contracting and Telecommunications experience. Dan was an auditor for the U.S. Department of Defense Office of the Inspector General before moving to private industry. He joined SSC after five years at Lansinoh Laboratories where he most recently served as Controller. Prior to that, Dan worked at Science Applications International Corporation and Verestar. Dan earned an M.B.A from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and a B.S in Accounting from Western Michigan University.
