Tom Stroup of Shared Spectrum Company Selected To Speak At International CTIA Wireless® 2012 In New Orleans

Category: News, Press Releases

McLean, VA. (April 18, 2012) –  Shared Spectrum Company (SSC), the leading innovator of dynamic spectrum access and cognitive radio technology software solutions, today announced that Tom Stroup, CEO of SSC, will speak at the CTIA Executive Forum during International CTIA WIRELESS® 2012, taking place May 8-10, 2012 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans. Stroup will participate in the session entitled Small Cells, Wi-Fi & DAS: Alternatives to the Cell Site (May 9 from 1:30pm – 2:30 pm, room 352) where he will discuss how wireless networks in the United States face the greatest capacity restraints of any networks in the world. Moderated by Ken Rehbehn, principal analyst for Mobile Infrastructure with the Yankee Group, Stroup will be joined by other wireless industry leaders.

Stroup will specifically address the opportunity to use TV White Space spectrum in femtocells and other small cell devices to help reduce the congestion on existing cellular frequencies.  “SSC recently released its first commercial software product called the Spectrum Sensing Toolbox, which is designed for femtocell manufacturers to expand the frequency bands on which these devices operate while avoiding interference with other devices in the spectrum,” said Stroup. “I look forward to discussing how these newly available spectrum bands can help alleviate the ever increasing demand on our cellular networks.”
